Forced Into Extremism – Suicide Bomber Surrenders to Authorities Upon Sighting Family Members At Targeted Camp

The 3rd member of the suicide bomber-team sent to wreak havoc on Internally Displaced Persons at the camp, reportedly submitted herself to the authorities when she realized that her parents and siblings were among the IDPs in the camp.

Two female suicide bombers killed about 58 people at a camp for Internally Displaced People (IDP) in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State, in recent attacks according to Vanguard.

The attack occurred 85 km (50 miles) outside the capital of Borno state at about 6:30 am when the bomber detonated their Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDS).

According to the Executive Chairman of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Satomi Ahmad, 30 people were killed and 78 injured during the attack. However, a breakdown in the telephone system prevented the incident being made public earlier.

He said: “We were not informed of the attacks until this morning (Wednesday). As soon as we heard, SEMA and NEMA officials were on the scene. We evacuated 78 injured persons to Maiduguri.”

However, rescue workers have put the death toll at more than 55 with most victims being women and children.

While no group has claimed responsibility but the attack bore the hallmarks of Boko Haram and the 3rd bomber was also heard telling soldiers that more suicide bombers have been assigned to attack the camp soon.
